Acad. Abdulmenaf Bexheti was born on 2nd of July 1959 in Mala Rečica – Tetovo, where he finished elementary school and gymnasium. In 1982 he graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Pristina. He began his professional career in TBT “Techno-Trade” Tetovo in 1983 where he worked until 1987. Then in 1987 he started working in the Agency for Public Accounting – Tetovo Branch where he worked as a financial inspector, and a year later he was promoted to Senior Inspector of the Public Revenue Office of Macedonia. On this job post remained up to March 1994 when by a Decision of the Government was appointed as Deputy Director of the Public Revenue Office, and from May 1995 to February 1996 he was the acting director of PRO of Macedonia. In 1996 he was elected as Minister of Development in the Government and in May 1997 as the Minister of Transport and Communications, the function on which remained until the end of 1998.
In 1996 he was enrolled on postgraduate studies at the Economic Faculty of the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius “- Skopje where he has obtained a Master’s degree in 1999, under the mentorship of Acad. Ksente Bogoev entitled: ,,Structure of public spending in the Republic of Macedonia and opportunities for rationalization“. He obtained a PhD degree in 2002 at the Economics Faculty of the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius “, under the mentorship of prof. dr. Živko Antanasovski by defending of the thesis entitled: ,,Public spending in modern states and in the Republic of Macedonia – aspects of rationalization and optimization“.
Since the establishment of the University of Southeast Europe – Tetovo, in 2001, acad. Bexheti was working as a lecturer at the Faculty of Business Administration and Public Administration of the subjects: Basics and principles of management and Basics of financial accounting. In 2002 he was elected as an assistant professor of Macroeconomics and Public Finance. In 2002 the Board of the University of Southeast Europe – Tetovo appointed him as the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and at the beginning of the academic year 2004/05 he was appointed as vice-rector of the Faculty of Southeast Europe in charge of finance and development of the University, which position held until August 2012 when he has been appointed as a member of the Board of SEEU function that he carries out up today. Besides regular classes on graduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies he is engaged in research activities in the field of socio-economic relations. In 2004, within the framework of inter-university cooperation, he participated in a two-month program for training in the curricula of post graduate studies and scientific research in the United States at Indiana University – Indianapolis on the School of Business Management (Kelley School Business). In November 2005 he was elected as an associate professor at the University of Southeast Europe – Tetovo on the subjects of Macroeconomics and Public finance.
In early 2010 he was elected as a full professor in the field of macroeconomics – public finances, based on a review of the Commission comprised of prof. Dr. Heinz Dieter Wenzel, a professor at the University of Bamberg – Germany, President, Acad. Taki Fiti, professor of Economics at the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius “- Skopje and professor Dr. Sulo Hadera, a professor at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tirana.
Simultaneously Acad. Abdulmenaf Bexheti was a member of many international and regional initiatives and organizations (SECI, PS, etc.) as well as of many professional and other associations in the country (Association of the Financial and accounting workers of the Republic of Macedonia, Association of Economists of Republic of Macedonia, Association of economists from Tetovo and others.). He was and still is a member of the supervisory and management boards of many reputable organizations in the region among which a member of the Audit Committee and the Board of NLB bank in Skopje and Pristina simultaneously. Acad. Abdulmenaf Bexheti has published two books, two university school books, more than 100 scientific papers in the last decade and more than 200 analyses, editorials and opinions in the media in the country.
In 2012 he was elected as a member of the Albanian Academy of Arts and Sciences.
As a member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts he was elected on 4th of June 2012.
