Biography

Alajdin Abazi was born on 1st of November 1942 in Tetovo. In 1965 he graduated from the Electrical Engineering Faculty in Zagreb. As a graduated electrical engineer he was employed first in “CEC Jugohrom” and then in the “Electric Power Company of Macedonia” (1965-1969).

In 1969 he was elected as assistant at the Technical Faculty in Pristina. In 1970 he continued with post graduate degree studies in Electrical Engineering in Zagreb and in 1973 earned a master’s degree on the topic ,,Novi izolacioni materijali i njihova uloga u elektrotehnici ” (New isnsulating materials and their role in electrotechnics). During the academic year of 1974/75 he resided in the UK at the University of North Wales, Bangor, as a visiting researcher. He finished doctoral studies in 1977 at the Electrical Engineering Faculty in Zagreb on the doctoral thesis entitled “Storiranje i neutraliziranje elektrostatičkog naboja u tankim izolacionim filmovima” (Storing and neutralizing electrostatic charge in thin insulating film). In the period 1979-1981 he was dean of the Technical Faculty in Pristina. During 1981, as a visiting professor he stayed in the PR China at the Academy of Sciences, where he taught lectures in the area of electromagnetic field theory. Then in the 1981/82 academic year he stayed in the United States as a visiting professor at the University of West Virginia at the Department of Physics and Electrical Engineering (Fulbright program), where he continued his research in the field of electrostatics and applicative electricity. From 1982-1990 year, along with his work at the university, he has been appointed as a Chairman of the Board of the institute “INCOSAI” of research on “Electric Kosovo” and Vice President of the Board for scientific cooperation YU-USA, and a member of the Board for development of ,,Electric power company of  Yugoslavia. ” In 1985 he became a Full professor on the subject “Electromagnetics” at the Electrical Engineering Faculty in Pristina.
