Acad. Gazanfer Bajram was born in 1943 in Pristina. He finished his primary and secondary education in Skopje. In 1967 he finished Pedagogical School in Pristina. From 1967 to 1971 he worked as a teacher of art education in primary school on the Turkish “Tefejuz” in Skopje. In 1974 he graduated on the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade in the class of acad. Mladen Srbinović. That same year he was enrolled for postgraduate studies (Academy of Belgrade) at the Department of monumental painting under the supervision of prof. Boza Prodanović and after completion of the studies he acquired the title of Master of arts.

He has specialized in fresco painting and mosaic. As a scholar of the Italian government acad. Bajram was on a two-year specialization at the Department of mosaic at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna (1981-1983). In 1983 he returned to Skopje and from 1985 he worked as a professor in the School of Applied Arts “Lazar Ličenoski” in Skopje where he taught: Theory of form and color; Decorative letter; Drawing; Act and painting techniques.

From 1983 to 1990 he was hired as a set designer and costume designer in several theater productions in theaters in Skopje, Kumanovo, Stip, Bitola and abroad such as Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Banja Luka. He worked as art director on television shows on MTV.

Acad. Bajram has participated in numerous domestic solo exhibitions in Strumica, Bitola, Ohrid, Skopje, Velestovo and abroad in Rome, Istanbul, Ankara, Nazzano and group exhibitions, both domestically and abroad, Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, Victoria del Spirito Santo, Smolyan, Sofia, Ravenna, Rome, Oxford, Lefkosha, Comrat, deadlines, Warsaw, Krakow, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Vranje, Pirot, Gaziantep, Denizli, Istanbul, Mersin, Sapandzha, Ankara, Bracciano, Nazzano, Volos, Athens, Thessaloniki and other places.

He is author of several monumental mosaics: “The Bridge” (1997), together with the mosaist Paulo Racagni from Ravenna (Italy), MOB – Skopje; six mosaics in the hall of the Parliament (1999); “Icarus Flight” (2000), mosaic in the VIP hall of the airport in Skopje; “Four elements – Universe” (2015), a gift to the Academy, and several mosaics “Orange Flower 1”, “Orange Flower 2”, “Dancer”, “Melih” and three-dimensional mosaics “Nest” and “Altar” in tallest residential tower “Portakal chichegi” in Ankara, Turkey. His works can be found in galleries and private collections in Macedonia and Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Canada, Moldova, Poland, USA, Serbia, Turkey, France and others.

He has a rich international activity through participation and organization of numerous art colonies in the country and abroad. As a longstanding active member (since 1985) of AIMC (Associacione Internazionale Mosaicisti Contemporanei) – International Association of contemporary mosaic, based in Ravenna (Italy), he realized the participation of six international conferences organized by the Association for the mosaic of one of them organize by himself – the tenth congress in Skopje (2006).

He participated with lectures and led workshops on mosaic of several universities – the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Bitola / Ohrid University, in Edirne and the University of Izmir. He participated in several international workshops on the protection of cultural heritage mosaics in Macedonia as well as in international project to protect the mosaics in Heraclea.

Due to the special merits and longstanding significant contribution in the field of culture, in 2004 he was awarded with the “11th of October” Award, in 2006 the prize “Nereski Masters” bestowed by DLUM and in 2004 he received the annual award of the Council of the Municipality of Strumica for outstanding contribution to the nurturing and development of mosaic art in Strumica. He is the winner of the annual award of the Association of Turkish media in Macedonia for the contribution to the art of the Turkish community in Macedonia.

Acad. Bajram is a member of DLUM since 1983, member of AIMC and the Executive Board of this association for several terms, the European Society for Culture, S.E.C. (Societé Europeene de Culture) based in Venice, the Association Mosaico Oggi in Rome and founder and president of the Association of mosaicists in Skopje. He was a member of the Arts Council of the arts colony in Denizli, Turkey, in Kicevo art colony and he is the chairman of the Arts Colony in Sapandzha Turkey. Acad. Bajram is the founder of the Department of mosaic within the International Strumica Art Colony.

As a member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts he was elected on 4th of June 2012. Since 2016 he is the Secretary of the Department of Arts at MASA.
